Umbrella type

Beach Umbrella

Two-piece pole with a sand-anchor lower section and a tilt joint. Canopy fabric is specified for light fastness and UV performance; hardware is dominated by corrosion resistance in salt air.

Structure

A beach umbrella is a parasol stripped down to what a person carries to the shore: a two-piece pole that breaks down for carrying, a sand anchor on the lower section instead of a heavy base, and a tilt joint so the shade can follow the sun. The canopy is smaller than a garden parasol, usually 1.8-2.2 m, and is specified for light fastness and UPF because it stands in full sun all day. Every hardware part is specified for salt air: coating thickness and salt-spray hours are the two numbers that separate a beach parasol from a garden one, and the anchor is the part that decides whether the umbrella stays up at all.

Assembly flow & quality control points

  1. 1

    Pole preparation and finishing

    Supply chain / partners

Both pole sections are cut, the coupling and tilt-joint holes are formed, and the pole is finished. Coating thickness is checked against the coastal specification rather than the garden one.

    Quality control points

    • Coating thickness · Thickness gauge per buyer spec · Per batch
    • Corrosion resistance · Neutral salt spray, 5% NaCl, 35 C (ISO 9227 / GB/T 10125), extended hours · Per batch
  2. 2

    Sand anchor fitting

    Supply chain / partners

The anchor is fitted to the lower pole section and pull-tested in sand. Steel auger versions are bought in and tested the same way.

    Quality control points

    • Pull-out resistance in sand · Install per instructions, pull to the agreed load, no withdrawal · Per batch
    • Fit to pole · Manual assembly and twist check · 100%
  3. 3

    Tilt joint assembly

    Supply chain / partners

The tilt joint is fitted to the upper pole section and cycled through its locking angles, including with sand-dusted parts, because a beach joint never runs clean.

    Quality control points

    • Tilt hold · Set at each locking angle, no slip · 100%
    • Cycle with sand dust · Manual cycle x10 in sand-dusted condition, no binding · 5 pcs per batch
  4. 4

    Hub and rib assembly

    Supply chain / partners

The hub is fitted and the ribs are assembled. Fibreglass ribs are common here because they do not corrode and do not get hot to touch.

    Quality control points

    • Rib slot fit · Dry assembly of all ribs, no rock, no gap · 100%
    • Rib count and symmetry · Count and visual spacing check · 100%
  5. 5

    Canopy sewing

    Supply chain / partners

Panels are cut and sewn with sealed seams. Light fastness is the buying specification for this fabric, so it is checked per order.

    Quality control points

    • Colour fastness to light · Xenon arc per ISO 105-B02, grade per buyer spec · Per order
    • Seam leakage · Spray / shower test per ISO 4920 or buyer method · 5 pcs per batch
  6. 6

    Canopy mounting

    Supply chain / partners

The canopy is mounted and tensioned on the frame.

    Quality control points

    • Canopy tension & symmetry · Visual in open position, no sag, no twist · 100%
  7. 7

    Function and UV check

    Supply chain / partners

The umbrella is set up, tilted and cycled, and the UPF of the fabric is verified where the buyer specifies it.

    Quality control points

    • Tilt and setup cycling · Full range cycle, no slip · 5 pcs per batch
    • UPF rating · Spectrophotometer per AS/NZS 4399 or buyer method · Per order
  8. 8

    Appearance inspection and packing

    Supply chain / partners

Final appearance check and packing, usually with a carry strap or bag so the two-piece pole travels as one bundle.

    Quality control points

    • Appearance & workmanship · Visual: no coating damage, no burr, no stain · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)
    • Kit completeness · Count pole sections, anchor and bag · Per carton
