Umbrella metal part
Parasol Centre Pole
Overview
- Made by
- Supply chain / partners
- Materials
- Steel tube, 38 mm or 48 mm, Aluminium tube with internal rib, Two-piece pole with coupling
- Finish options
- Powder coat (standard), Anodised aluminium, Wood-grain transfer print
Selection tips
- Pole diameter (38 or 48 mm) and wall thickness set the bending strength; a 3 m canopy wants 1.2 mm or more.
- Two-piece poles rock at the coupling: add an internal sleeve, not just a tighter fit.
- Powder coat only after phosphating or zirconium conversion, or it blisters off within a year outdoors.
- Aluminium is light and rust-free but bends where steel would hold; wood-grain transfer is the compromise.
Manufacturing process & quality control points
- 1
Tube cutting
Supply chain / partnersPole tube is cut to length. Pole length sets the finished parasol height, and on a patio product it is the dimension buyers complain about first.
Quality control points
- Cut length · Tape measure per drawing · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
- 2
Hole punching and coupling forming
Supply chain / partnersHoles for the crank gearbox, the tilt joint and the locking pin are punched, and two-piece poles get a coupling. Hole position decides whether the crank lands where a standing user can reach it.
Quality control points
- Hole position · Fixture check per drawing · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
- 3
Deburring and pre-treatment
Supply chain / partnersPoles are deburred and pre-treated. Internal burrs on a two-piece pole stop the sections seating.
Quality control points
- Internal burr · Visual plus manual fit of the coupling · 100%
- 4
Surface finishing
Supply chain / partnersPowder coating or anodising is applied by the supply chain. A parasol lives outdoors full time, so coating thickness and salt-spray hours are specified together.
Quality control points
- Coating thickness · Thickness gauge per buyer spec · Per batch
- Corrosion resistance · Neutral salt spray, 5% NaCl, 35 C (ISO 9227 / GB/T 10125) · Per batch
- 5
Straightness and assembly fit
Supply chain / partnersPoles are checked straight and dry-fitted with the hub, gearbox and base adapter before the canopy goes on.
Quality control points
- Straightness · Roll on flat plate, no visible wobble · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
- Component fit · Dry assembly of hub, gearbox and base adapter · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
