Umbrella type
Golf Umbrella
Oversized canopy, commonly a 60 inch arc, on a full fibreglass frame with a vented double canopy and auto-open button. Wind resistance and corrosion resistance define the quality of this category.
Structure
A golf umbrella is an oversized stick umbrella, commonly a 60 inch canopy arc on a shaft around 98 cm long. The frame is usually all fibreglass, 8 flexible ribs plus a fibreglass shaft, because fibreglass bends under gusts instead of snapping. The canopy is normally a vented double layer: an inner canopy with openings lets air escape between the layers so the umbrella does not invert. Opening is by an auto-open button with a large round head, and the handle is a long straight grip in EVA foam, rubber or wood. Corrosion resistance matters more here than on any other category because of size, salt air exposure and long outdoor use.

Assembly flow & quality control points
- 1
Shaft preparation
In-house or supply chainFibreglass rod or metal tube is cut to length, drilled for ferrule, latch and handle, then finished. Straightness matters because the long shaft carries a large bending moment.
Quality control points
- Length & hole position · Tape / caliper + pin gauge · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
- Straightness · Roll on flat plate · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
- 2
Top notch & rib riveting
Qinxi in-houseThe top notch is riveted to the long fibreglass ribs. Hole pitch on a large frame directly affects canopy shape.
Quality control points
- Rivet tightness · Visual + probe, no play, no rib splitting · 100%
- Rib symmetry · Visual on jig for large frames · First article + AQL per lot
- 3
Stretcher & windproof joint assembly
Qinxi in-houseStretchers and windproof spring joints are fitted. On a canopy this large, the joints carry most of the wind load.
Quality control points
- Joint freedom & play · Manual swing and axial check · 100%
- Inversion recovery · Force inversion and release, returns with no breakage · 5 pcs per batch
- 4
Runner & opening spring assembly
Qinxi in-houseRunner and opening spring are assembled to the shaft with the correct pre-load.
Quality control points
- Spring orientation & preload · Visual + functional check · 100%
- Runner travel · Manual full stroke, no binding · 100%
- 5
Handle assembly
Qinxi in-houseLong straight grip with EVA, rubber or wood is fixed to the shaft by rivet, thread or adhesive, then pull and torsion tested.
Quality control points
- Handle retention · Static pull test, reference 150 N per GB/T 23147-2018 · 5 pcs per batch
- Torsion resistance · Torque test to agreed spec, no rotation · 5 pcs per batch
- 6
Double canopy cutting & sewing
Supply-chain supportOuter and inner panels plus the mesh vent layer are cut and sewn. The vent geometry is what lets air pass without letting water in.
Quality control points
- Vent overlap & geometry · Visual + measurement against approved sample · First article + AQL per lot
- Seam leakage · Spray / shower test per ISO 4920 · 5 pcs per batch
- Colour fastness to light · Reference ISO 105-B02 for outdoor use where specified · Per lot
- 7
Canopy mounting (two layers)
Qinxi in-houseBoth canopy layers are mounted and tensioned on the frame, with the vent layer aligned to the rib positions.
Quality control points
- Layer alignment & tension · Visual in open position, no sag, vent aligned · 100%
- Canopy attachment · Pull check at rib tips · 100%
- 8
Ferrule & rib tip caps
Qinxi in-houseFerrule and tip caps fitted; on golf umbrellas the tip caps are the parts most often knocked and lost.
Quality control points
- Tip cap retention · Pull test to agreed spec · 5 pcs per batch
- Sharp edges / R angle · Visual and radius check, no sharp point · 100%
- 9
Wind, water, corrosion test & packing
In-house or supply chainSamples are wind and shower tested, corrosion is verified on metal parts, then the umbrellas are sleeved and cartoned.
Quality control points
- Wind resistance · Fan / wind tunnel at agreed speed, commonly 10 m/s or per buyer spec, no inversion damage · Per order
- Water resistance · Spray test ISO 4920; hydrostatic head ISO 811 where coated · 5 pcs per batch
- Corrosion resistance · Neutral salt spray 48 h reference for golf frames, no red rust · Per order
- Packing · Carton quantity, marks and drop check per buyer spec · Per carton / per order
