Umbrella fabric part
Reflective Trim
Overview
- Made by
- Supply chain / partners
- Materials
- Retroreflective PVC tape, Reflective polyester webbing, Heat-transfer reflective film
- Finish options
- Silver retroreflective, Coloured reflective, Sewn-on or heat-transferred
Selection tips
- Specify the coefficient of retroreflection (cd/lx/m2), not “it looks bright”.
- Sewn or heat-transferred decides wash life: transfer looks cleaner but crazes after about 20 washes.
- Reflective tape and canopy fabric shrink differently, so pre-shrink or add ease or the seam puckers.
- Only kids and night-safety models need it; on a standard umbrella it is pure cost.

Tape or webbing conversion
Supply chain / partnersReflective tape or webbing is slit to width and cut to length by the supply chain.
Quality control points
- Width and length · Caliper / tape measure per drawing · First article + 1 pc per 2 h

Coefficient of reflection check
Supply chain / partnersRetroreflective performance is verified against the buyer's specification. On a kids or roadside product this is a safety function, so it is checked per batch rather than per order.
Quality control points
- Retroreflective coefficient · Retroreflectometer or comparison against a reference sample · Per batch

Application and wash / rub check
Supply chain / partnersTrim is sewn or heat-transferred to the canopy by the assembly line and rub-tested. Reflective film that lifts at the edge is both a safety loss and a complaint.
Quality control points
- Adhesion after rub / wash · Crocking / rub test plus laundering cycle per buyer method · Per batch
