Selection tips
- Cap or round every rib end; an exposed wire end is one of the most common reasons kids umbrellas are returned.
- Short ribs do not need extra thickness: the priority is the finger-trap gap, kept under 5 mm or over 12 mm.
- Colour powder coat has to cover fully; show-through on a kids product is graded as an appearance defect.
- Against an adult rib: for kids, choose safety over wind rating and do not thin the strip to save cost.

Blanking and forming
Supply chain / partnersRib strip is blanked to the shorter kids length and the U-channel is formed. Rib ends are radiused at this stage rather than only capped later.

Rivet hole punching and deburring
Supply chain / partnersHinge holes are punched and deburred. Hole pitch sets canopy symmetry even on a small frame.

Surface finishing
Supply chain / partnersPlating or coating is applied by the supply chain; on kids frames the coating is also the barrier against hand-to-mouth contact, so adhesion matters more than colour.

Tip radius check
Supply chain / partnersEvery rib end is checked for radius. A sharp rib tip fails EN 71-1 and, more to the point, it is the defect that ends a kids umbrella programme.
