Selection tips
- A 20-24 mm grip suits small hands; an oversized handle is less safe because children cannot hold it securely.
- Keep every reachable edge at R1 mm or more, with no sharp points or burrs (EN 71 / CPSIA practice).
- End caps and decorative parts must pass torque and tension tests: a part that pulls off is a choking risk, not a cosmetic defect.
- Bright colours and character prints bring ink compliance with them: ask for phthalate and heavy-metal reports on the actual ink.
Manufacturing process & quality control points
- 1
Qinxi owns the handle model and the injection tool. A kids handle is designed around a small hand: shorter grip, smaller diameter, and no pinching cavity between the handle and the runner.
Quality control points
- Grip diameter and pinch clearance · Drawing review against the age-grade hand gauge · Each new tool or project
- 2
The mould is built and sampled in-house; soft overmould versions need a second shot station, which is planned into the tool.
Quality control points
- Gate and overmould coverage · First-shot review; no bare substrate on the grip face · Each new tool
- 3
Handles are moulded in-house. Colour consistency matters more here than on any other umbrella part, because a kids design is sold on its colour.
Quality control points
- Colour match · D65 light box vs approved swatch · Per batch
- Appearance · Visual: no sink mark, no flash on the grip face · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)
- 4
Gate vestige and flash are trimmed in-house. Flash on a kids handle is a sharp-edge risk, not a cosmetic issue.
Quality control points
- Residual flash and sharp edge · Gloved touch check plus visual · 100%

Decorating
Supply chain / partnersCharacter artwork is pad printed by the supply chain. Printed layers on a kids product are checked against EN 71-3 migration limits, and the print must survive the abrasion test so it cannot be scraped off and swallowed.
Quality control points
- Print adhesion and migration · Tape / abrasion test; EN 71-3 migration report per ink · Per batch
- 6
Assembly and small-part pull test
Supply chain / partnersThe handle is fitted on the assembly line and pull-tested. Any moulded-on decoration that can be twisted off is treated as a small part under the age-grade rule.
Quality control points
- Handle retention · Static pull test; reference 150 N per GB/T 23147-2018 · 5 pcs per batch
- Small-part torque and pull · 90 N torque / 70 N pull per EN 71-1 where the part fits the small-parts gauge · Per batch
