The shot should use 20–80% of the machine's shot capacity: below 20% the melt degrades in the barrel, above 80% there is no cushion.
Notes
Clamping force (t) ≈ projected area (cm²) × cavity pressure (MPa) ÷ 100. Choosing a machine by part weight alone is a common mistake: projected area decides the tonnage.
