Applications

  • Gau boxesWorn as an amulet case on a cord or chain
  • Pendant necklacesWorn as a statement pendant
  • Keychains & charmsFitted with a split ring as a charm

Selection tips

  • Choose hinge versus screw versus clip closure against how often it is opened; a screw top seals best but is slow to open.
  • Specify the insert: a printed card is cheaper than a hand-painted one and keeps the box's contents flexible.
  • Jewellery is held to stricter lead and cadmium limits than umbrellas; confirm REACH Annex XVII and CPSIA thresholds with the buyer.
  • EU skin-contact items need nickel-free plating to meet REACH nickel-release limits.

Manufacturing process & quality control points

  1. 1

    Box design & tooling

Qinxi in-houseZinc & Aluminum Alloy Die Casting

Qinxi owns the 3D model and the dies for the box body and lid, so they are made in-house. The hinge, insert, window and cord are specified at the enquiry stage and sourced from the supply chain.

    Quality control points

    • Lid and body fit, closure type · Engineering review of the tool · Each new tool or project
  2. 2

Zinc alloy die casting of body and lid

Qinxi in-houseZinc & Aluminum Alloy Die Casting

The box body and lid are die cast on Qinxi's own line, de-gated and tumbled. The sealing lip and any relief are the visible and functional surfaces, so fill and flash there are checked.

    Quality control points

    • Fill and porosity at the lip and relief · Visual check under 600-1000 lx, 300 mm distance · First 5 pieces per cavity per shift
    • Lid-to-body fit · Fit check with go/no-go gauge · First article + every 2 hours
  3. 3

    Plating and enamel

    Supply chain / partners

The box is plated and recesses may be filled with enamel. Plating is outsourced to the supply chain; thickness and corrosion are verified against the agreed specification.

    Quality control points

    • Coating thickness · XRF coating thickness gauge (ISO 3497 / ASTM B568) · One set per plating colour per batch
    • Enamel bubble and adhesion · 10x loupe; tape adhesion test · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)
  4. 4

Hinge / insert fit and assembly

    Qinxi in-house

The hinge or thread, insert and window are fitted and the box is assembled and closed. This final assembly is done in-house; the closure must open and close cleanly and the box must not rattle when worn.

    Quality control points

    • Closure action and insert fit · Manual open/close cycle x10; feel for rattle · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)
    • Pull on the attachment · Pull gauge on the cord/chain loop · One sample set per batch
