Magnetic Button / Magnetic Snap

A closure that holds a flap or panel shut with a magnet seated inside two mating metal cups. The cups are stamped and the magnets are bought-in; Qinxi has no stamping or magnet line, so the complete magnetic button is sourced from the supply chain.

Selection tips

  • Specify pull force against the flap weight: too weak and it drifts open, too strong and it is hard to operate one-handed.
  • For items that may be handled by children, ask about magnet safety (small high-flux magnets are regulated under US 16 CFR 1262 and EU/US toy rules).
  • Nickel-free plating is needed for EU skin-contact items to meet REACH nickel-release limits.
  • Keep magnets away from cards, electronics and mechanical watches; flag this to the buyer for packaging.

    Stamping of the cups

    The two mating cups are blanked and drawn. Qinxi has no stamping or cold-heading line, so this is done by the supply chain to the agreed diameter and plating.

    Magnet fit and plating

    A bought-in magnet is press-fitted into each cup and the cups are plated. Plating is outsourced to the supply chain; coating thickness and corrosion are verified against the agreed specification.

    Pull-force and closure test

    The mating pair is pulled apart to confirm the pull force and that it seats squarely without slipping. Supplied and tested by the supply chain, with Qinxi spot-checking.
