Selection tips

  • A J-shaped or crook handle needs an inner opening of 12 mm or more to hang on a standard hook.
  • Pin or bond the handle to the shaft: a push fit alone lets the handle rotate in use.
  • Wood-grain transfer print is cheaper and more consistent than solid wood but wears faster, so add a clear top coat.
  • Against a die-cast handle: zinc looks heavier and takes complex shapes, but chips at the corner when dropped.

  1. 1

    Product design & engineering

    Qinxi in-housePlastic Injection Molding

Qinxi owns the handle geometry and the injection tool, so grip shape, wall thickness and the shaft bore are fixed in-house at the design stage. The bore size has to match the agreed shaft diameter, otherwise the handle spins or pulls off in service.

    Quality control points

    • Grip geometry and shaft bore · Drawing review + 3D model check against shaft spec · Each new tool or project

    Mould development

    Qinxi in-housePlastic Injection Molding

The injection mould is built and sampled in-house. Gate position matters on a long handle: a gate on the visible grip face leaves a mark the buyer will reject, so the gate is placed at the shaft end or on a hidden face.

    Quality control points

    • Gate position and fill · First-shot review; no sink, no short shot · Each new tool

    Injection moulding

    Qinxi in-housePlastic Injection Molding

Handles are moulded in-house on Qinxi's injection line. Wall thickness is kept even so the bore does not ovalise, which is what makes a handle loose on the shaft after a season of use.

    Quality control points

    • Bore diameter · Plug gauge / caliper per drawing · First article + 1 pc per 2 h
    • Appearance · Visual: no sink mark, no flash, no flow line on the grip face · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)

    Deflashing and cleaning

    Qinxi in-housePlastic Injection Molding

Gate vestige and parting-line flash are trimmed in-house. Flash on the grip face is a comfort defect, not just a cosmetic one.

    Quality control points

    • Residual flash · Gloved touch check plus visual · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)

    Decorating

    Supply chain / partners

Logo work - pad printing, hot stamping or laser - is done by the supply chain. Wooden and bamboo versions of the handle are turned and stained by the supply chain rather than moulded in-house.

    Quality control points

    • Logo position and adhesion · Visual vs approved sample; tape test (ISO 2409) · Per lot, AQL 2.5 (ISO 2859-1 general level II)
  6. 6

Assembly to shaft and pull test

    Supply chain / partners

The handle is fitted to the shaft by the assembly line and pull-tested. Handle pull-off is one of the most common field failures on a stick or folding umbrella.

    Quality control points

    • Handle retention · Static pull test; reference 150 N per GB/T 23147-2018 · 5 pcs per batch
    • No spin under torque · Manual torque check on the grip · 100%
